Akira Yamaguchi – founder
Akira Yamaguchi was born in Paris, France from Japanese parents. She has a degree in Media and Communication from Sorbonne University in Paris and attended both international school and Japanese school since an early age, which made her fluent in French, English and Japanese.
After starting her career as a broadcast sound engineer and as a post-production coordinator, she joined TOEI Animation and helped opening their European branch in Paris. She also served as Licensing Manager for 4 years, handling the European rights for prestigious properties such as Dragon Ball Z, Saint Seya, Sailor Moon and many more.
In 2009, she moved to Montreal and worked for 2 years as head of international business development for a Canadian animation company. Then, in 2011, she founded Sun Bridge Inc. as a way for her to get reconnect with her Japanese roots.
Since the creation of the company, she has fulfilled mandate for numerous private companies, public institutions, animation producers and video game companies, helping on endeavors such as closing international distribution rights for Japanese animated feature film “In this corner of the world“, opening Canadian studios for multiple Japanese video game companies, and serving as the Japanese ambassador for the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
Since 2017, Akira has been officiating as the President of the Quebec Japan Business Forum.
